Finishing Primary
April 02, 2007
I've gotten a few emails asking what we ended up
selecting. My friends and I selected on March 22nd, and
of all eight selectors from VT-6 that week, we all got
our first choices (hence the happy faces). We had 4
Jets (3 Meridian, 1 Kingsville), 3 Helos and 1 P-3.
We're heading to NAS Lemoore tomorrow to undergo the
centrifuge training. I plan on finishing out all the
briefing guides this coming weekend so the database
will be complete. I'll make sure to post the video of
me G-locking when I get back as well. I'll be heading
up to NAS Meridian on April 9th. Now that I'm moving
on, it's up to you to keep this site up-to-date. Keep
me informed via email and we'll make sure this site
continues to give good gouge for a long time.
RI Forms Addition
March 11, 2007
We've added two tools we have been using during RIs. A
DD Form 175 Flight Plan template we found online, and a
Jet Log template we made to help with the mundane
calculations we were spending hours doing.

Second Block of RI Sims Added
March 11, 2007
Tomorrow we are finishing up the very last of our sims
for Primary. The second block of sims (there are 10 of
them) are an intense week of frantically taking your
hands off the controls to fold a chart or flip to an
approach plate while the sim tries to go into unusual
attitudes. If you're in VT-6, you can expect to be
double pumped through the whole block (that's right! 5
days of fun!). We've added the briefing guides for
those sims.
Thanks to Patrick for letting us know about a mistake in one of the guides (50_I4203) about climbing at 120KIAS. Nose comes up to 12-15 degrees high to slow down vice 10-15 degrees. Keep letting us know if you find a mistake in anything on the site so we can make sure we're not supplying everyone with bad gouge.
On that note, the NSS Calculator on this site is great for calculating your ratio, but the equation it uses to figure out NSS is bunk. We're working on an update that focuses on the ratio only. If you want some more info on how to take your ratio and turn it into an NSS (you'll need a lot of current statistical data from your squadron) check out this thread:

I'm considering adding a part to the site showing what ratio equals what NSS for those people who have already finished primary. I'd love for people to supply that data as they complete primary: Your Ratio, NSS, Squadron and Date of selection (and what you selected!).

Briefing Guides Up-To-Date
February 21, 2007
I've finished uploading all the briefing guides up to
where we are in the program. We're starting the first
block of RI flights later this week and we'll be
posting those guides as we make them!
